“No Way” – SIX the Musical

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

You all know that I love SIX the musical, which is the story of the six ex-wives of Henry VIII. Catherine of Aragon was his first wife. After 23 years of marriage Henry VIII wanted an annulment and took a verse from Leviticus to try to convince the Pope to grant one. The Pope did not so the Church of England was born. “No Way” is Catherine of Aragon’s song – where she stood up for herself, stayed true to herself and did what she believed God wanted her to do and she said no. Although he did divorce her, she was still the queen and stayed true to her faith. Oh, yea she also kept the crown jewels.

I grew up in Charlotte two miles from PTL which was home to Jim and Tammy Baker. In case you aren’t familiar with them they were TV evangelists who ending up in jail for stealing money. Growing up that close to an organization like that, my youth minister made sure we understood it. During Sunday School we would watch a show, write down the verses and determine if what he said was true or not. He wanted to make sure we did not blindly believe people quoting the bible because you can take anything out of context and completely change the meaning (like Henry VIII tried to do). It is so important that we get the facts and do not blindly believe anyone about the bible, politics or anything in life. If something doesn’t feel right to you – research it, pray about it and let God guide you to the answer. And like Catherine of Aragon stand up for yourself and be true to your faith.

PS – I wish I had this song as my girls were growing up so when they said they want a new mother I could sing it to them!!!

Job 34:4

Psalm 119:169

Proverbs 1:5
