& Juliet is a musical of the music of Max Martin and focuses on if Juliet had not died at the end of Romeo and Juliet. And yes, that is the Backstreet Boys song Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely – how can you not love that?????
I love that some of the new musicals have taken a new look/rewriting the ending of history or classic plays. It makes it very entertaining. And let’s be honest – WHO DOES NOT WANT TO REWRITE 2020!!!!! In the words of my Baptist friends – can I get an Amen!!! Well reality is that we can’t rewrite 2020 so what can we do??? As therapists always say – you can only worry about what you can control. In the song Juliet says:
There's nowhere to run I have no place to go Surrender my heart, body, and soul
Well that is what we can control. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is, he responded that they all boil down to two:
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" - Luke 10:27
That is all we can control. Turn our hearts to God, pray to him. And then love each other. So regardless of what does happen outside of our control – we will be prepared to deal with it. Today work on those two. If things get hard – turn it over to God if they are great - praise God. And then go show your love to someone else.
