Why not tell the whole story of Wizard of Oz in one song. That is exactly what Todrick Hall and Pentatonix did in the Wizard of Ahhh’s. It may be old, but I love how creative it is and definitely worth a listen. When the Wizard of Oz movie came out, it was the biggest thing next to Gone with the Wind at the time. Ironically, it lost several directors to Gone with the Wind. Since makeup had not been used to this extent much prior to the making of Wizard of Oz, there were lots of problems with it. The Tin Man had to be replaced as the first one almost died from an allergic reaction to the makeup. The Wicked Witch had second degree burns from the chemicals in the makeup. At least we have come a long way since then. But both the movie and the song speak to the creativity that the arts can spark.
Exodus 35 says: He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.
And Romans 12:6 says:
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.
We all have gifts that we can use whether in the Arts or something else. The creativity can inspire us, heal us and comfort others. So today I ask each one of you to pray about your gifts. How can God use your gifts today to help others? This is definitely the time to do things a different way. So, pray, contemplate and “just know you’re not alone… You can make this place… our home sweet home.”
