It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman is a 1966 musical about can you guess it – Superman!!! You knew that was coming but do you know this musical? It received fairly favorable reviews but failed to thrill audiences, so it closed after 129 performances making it one of the biggest Broadway flops of that time. They had no idea how much bigger we could make the flops. But despite that, the musical inspired a TV show based on the musical and eventually the movie series. It was been performed with some adaptations in the past decade as well.
WOW – all that from a flop. The song “You’ve Got Possibilities” is the most well-known song from the show (of course that’s not saying a lot) and is sung by a secretary at Clark Kent’s newspaper to Clark Kent trying to change his square personality. Like the song says – you’ve got some bare bones I can work with – imagine what I can do with you.
Well luckily that is what God says to us every day. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” I find that reassuring. We don’t have to have it all together, we don’t have to be perfect, we just need to be willing to do what God leads us to do. So today don’t be upset with yourself or get down. Know that you are enough for God. Pray and listen to how He wants to use you today. Because baby I’m telling you “you’ve got possibilities you don’t even know!”
